tRANSMISSION lINES

in Perry County, Pennsylvania

In April 2026, about 20 people met and discussed the proposed transmission lines in Perry County. We have met every month since April, and our group of concerned residents is expanding.

 

There are various proposals in Perry County for new transmission lines and the expansion of others.

 

These are the big towers/lines that cut across the land, distributing electricity to other areas (not the lines to our homes).

 

These 150–200-foot towers, require approximately 250-foot-wide right-of-way, with 500 to 765 kilovolts running through them. Some of the expansions will go up to a 500-foot-wide right-of-way.

 

The lines and towers claim Perry County lands and significantly impact the usage and  beauty of our fields and woodlands. 

 

Homeowners are concerned for various reasons and seek clarity and support, so we created this website to share resources.

Why attend - these transmission lines affect all of us.

  • Several new lines are being proposed. Therefore, PPL is acquiring more land to build them.

  • Other lines are expanding their right-of-way from 250’ to 500’

  • Defacing our landscape, lowering property values, and posing possible health risks

  • In Centre Township, Pennsylvania, the Juniata substation is one of the largest on the East Coast

  • Datacenters want to be close to these substations and need the transmission lines updated or a new line run to power them
     

Our land is of value agriculturally, residentially, and ecologically. There are other solutions!​ All are welcome!

Coalition to Preserve Perry County, which are fighting DataCenters
